Out of this world

Today's card is a birthday card for my step-son. He's big into his skateboarding so I thought I'd combine a few stamp set to make him an out of this world card.

I did make this an A5 card rather than my usual A6 as I wanted to make a full scene.

All stocked products will be listed at the end of the blog post.

I cut an A4 piece of Neenah Solar White card in half to make an A5 piece. Using my Misti to save time, I arranged all the stamps on the card where I wanted them so I could stamp them all at the same time.

I used Avery Elle's Super stamp set for the cityscape, the skateboarder is from Avery Elle's Stoked and the planets, rocket and sentiment are from Lawn Fawn's new Out of This World stamp set. I stamped all the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink as I knew I was going to use my copic markers for colouring and the memento ink is safe to use and wont smudge.

I cut out masks using full stick post it notes for the planets and the boy and the rocket, I didn't bother for the buildings as I was only using a light colour for the background and knew I could cover that.

Using distress ink in Broken China and a mini ink blending tool, I made the sky background for the bottom portion of the card. For the space background I started with Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet distress inks and randomly blending patches around the top part of the card. I then used Black Soot distress ink to go over the top making it darker at the edges but still making sure the mermaid lagoon and wilted violet were showing through. I used a white gel pen to add dots to look like stars over the top.

I removed the masks and colour the images using Copic Markers.

Using my Misti again, I stamped the sentiment and larger stars in Versamark ink and heat embossed with WOW! White embossing powder.

I used Avery Elle's Pierces Cloud dies to cut out a double sided cloud border and two smaller clouds to cover over were the two parts of the card meet. I added these to the card with foam tape to give extra dimension and make them feel like fluffy clouds.

I finished my trimming the card down and adding it to an A5 card base to leave a white border.
