Washi tape meadow love - Misty Meadows

Altenew Altenew Mega Love die Altenew Ombre Stencil Altenew washi tape Gina K soft stone heat embossing Mega Love Misty Meadows Washi Tape Ombre Stencil Soft stone washi tape

Hello there, it is Verity here from Pretty Little Button for the Bumbleberry Design team. If you didn't know Altenew come over to the UK for the One Big Show in July - it's a trade show. But whilst they're visiting the UK they hold a workshop, for which I went to this year. It was amazing, getting a sneak peek at some new products and meeting some crafty people. Whilst there, we were given some of the Misty Meadows Washi tape, but I saved mine to use when I got home. I wanted to show you that Washi tape isn't just for scrapbook on creating a strip of decoration. You can easily cut it up and use it as focal elements on your cards!

Written and photos for Washi tape meadow love:

To start off, you will want to adhere some of the Misty Meadows Washi Tape down onto card. Now, washi tape is semi-translucent so the colour of the card will come through slightly. I decided to use Soft Stone by Gina K designs rather than a white card to adhere the tape down onto. This gives a more muted tone to the washi tape.
This tape has a lot of different floral and leaf elements within the design. Using your scissors, fussy cut out a selection of the design elements including a combination of foiled and non-foiled elements.
To create the sentiment, die cut the Mega Love die from Gina K Soft Stone card stock and cut an additional 3 out of white card. Using Gina K Connect Glue, layer up the dies, ensuring the last top layer is in the Soft stone card.
To create the background, lay the Altenew Ombre Stencil over some lightweight white cardstock that is larger than the 6x6" stencil. Set your die cutting machine up, according to your machine's instructions, to dry emboss the stencil. For the Sizzix big shot, this consists of the platform, adapter plat B, a cutting plat, an embossing rubber mat, your cardstock, the stencil and then another clear cutting mat or impression pad.
This will dry emboss the stencil design into the card panel. Trim the panel down once embossed to 6X6" and foam mount this onto a 7X7" card base.
To add more interest to the background, add some gold paint more splatter. Next, adhere the layered die-cut onto the front of the card with Connect glue. Start adding the fussy cut flower and leaf elements to the sentiment, grouping them together for more interest.
Lastly, add a heat embossed sentiment to the front of the card to finish the card off.
If you enjoyed today's card, please let us know and we would love to see your cards if this has inspired you.
