Hello lovelies!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that 2018 treated you well, now we're speeding towards 2019 I thought I'd share with you some simple cards I made to welcome in the new year with you all! New Year cards aren't typically a tradition here in the UK but with Mama Elephant's "Happy New Year Wishes" stamp set how is a girl supposed to say no?!
I started by making some very simple backgrounds using Distress Oxide Ink and metallic watercolour paint. I cut a panel of white card stock down to the size I needed for this, I smooshed some Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide Ink on to my glass crafting mat and sprayed it with water. I placed my card stock down in to the ink in a random fashion and dried it after lifting it each time to get the layered effect, I repeated this process multiple times with my inks and gold metallic watercolour paint. I used Broken China Distress Oxide Ink for the blue example and I did a simple white and gold version with the leftover metallic watercolour paint that I didn't want to waste after I had finished with my coloured panels!
I cut each of my panels using the largest die from Mama Elephant's "Framed Tags" Waverly Creative Cuts once they were all completely dry. I used my powder tool applicator over all of my panels, stamped my sentiment in the centre using Versafine Onyx Black ink, coated it in clear embossing powder and set it with my heat tool.
I cut some black panels from the largest of the "Basic Rectangles" Creative Cuts from Mama Elephant, as these are slightly larger than the dies I used for my front panel I felt they gave it a nice border with the stitched detail!
I adhered each of my panels to my card bases and finished them off with some Ebony Black Nuvo Crystal Drops, leaving them to dry for 24 hours in a safe place undisturbed. I really love the marbled effect you can achieve with this technique!
Thanks for reading lovelies! Happy New Year for a few days time, I hope you all have fun celebrating and I'll see you next week with another card!
Claire
